If you’re visiting Qingdao for the first time, a ride on the Coastal Bus 618 is an absolute must! The views along the way are breathtaking, offering a perfect opportunity to see some of Qingdao’s most beautiful coastal scenery. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing ride or a perfect photo spot, this bus route provides an unforgettable experience. This guide will help you navigate the 618 bus route, including how to get on, key stops, and tips for the best experience.
Getting There
Start your journey by taking the Qingdao Blue Valley Express Line (BVG) subway to Puli Station (浦里站). Once at Puli Station, exit via the A gate and take a taxi to the Yangkou Bus Stop (仰口公交站) (less than 20 RMB). Taxis are readily available, so there’s no need to worry about transportation.
Once at Yangkou, hop on the Coastal Bus 618, which runs from Yangkou (仰口) to Yakou (垭口). For the best coastal views, sit on the driver’s side for the outbound trip, and reverse the seating for your return journey. If you’re in the last row, you can open the window, making the sightseeing experience even more enjoyable!
Bus Seating and Timing
Please note that the bus operates on a first-come, first-served basis with limited seating. Standing passengers are not allowed, so if you don’t find a seat, you’ll need to wait for the next bus. During peak season, it’s recommended to ride to the last stop (Yakou) and then slowly make your way back, as this will allow you to take in the coastal beauty without being rushed. Off-season trips are much less crowded, and you’ll rarely need to worry about finding a seat.
